Mac OS 8 Dial-Up Setup

Open Transport / PPP is the PPP modem dialer from Apple for Mac (OS 7.5.3 through OS 9). It works with TCP/IP 1.1 so you need the field Connect Via set to PPP Server within TCP/IP.

1. Open the (view)   OT/PPP by going to
    Apple
> Control Panel > PPP

2. A window (view)   will open where you enter your:
   Name: account username
   Password: account password
   Number: Infinity's dial-up phone number
      9522535324 (no space, dashed or parentheses)

3. From the Toolbar (view)  , select PPP > Modem.

4. Go to PPP > Modem. You will see the following Dialog Box appear:

From the Connect Via select box, choose the port you have your
modem plugged in to, (either Modem Port or Printer Port)

In the Modem box select the modem that fits (or is the closest to)
the modem that you have connected to your computer. The wrong An incorrect
selection could result in the modem not initializing properly or not at all. If you are
not sure about the type of modem that you are using, look at the modem, or contact
the supplier where it was purchased.

After selecting the other settings (Sound: ON/OFF, Dialing: Tone/Pulse),
click on the Close Box and you will go back to the initial PPP Dialog Box.

5. Select (view)   the Options button, and set the following on the Connection tab:

Check Connect automatically when staring TCP/IP applications
Check Use verbose logging
Check Flash icon in menu bar while connected
Check Disconnect if idle for (enter 30) minutes

6. Select (view)   the Protocols Tab, and set the following:

Check Allow error correction and compression in modem
Check Use TCP header compression

Then click OK.
Click on the Close Box and you will be asked if you Want to Save Changes.
Click Save.
