Outlook Express Setup

1. After opening Outlook Express,
    Click on Tools menu (view)  and select Accounts…

2. Select the Mail tab (view)  , then click the Add button and select Mail…

3. Enter your name (view)  in Display name field. Click Next.

4. Enter your email address (view)  in E-mail address field.
    (Ex: UserID@iaxs.net or You@YourDomain.com) Click Next.

5. My incoming mail server (view)  is a POP3 server.
If your email address ends with @iaxs.net
    Incoming mail server: pop.iaxs.net
    Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: smtp.iaxs.net
(or your ISP's outgoing SMTP server if you do not use Infinity for connectivity.)
If your email address ends with @yourdomain.com:
    Incoming mail server: mail.YourDomain.com
    Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: smtp.YourDomain.com
Click Next.

6. Enter your email user name (view)  in Account Name.
    This is usually everything before the @ symbol.
       (Ex jsmith if your email address is jsmith@iaxs.net)
    Enter your password in the Password field and
       click on the Remember password box if you don’t
    want to enter your password to get your mail.
    Click Next.

   (For older versions of Outlook Express:)
   If you are prompted to enter an Internet mail account name,
      enter your name or email address. (Ex John Smith or jsmith@iaxs.net)
      This field can be anything you want, but if you have multiple accounts,
      or accounts on other services also, you want it    to be descriptive.
   Click Next.

   (For older versions of Outlook Express:)
   If you connect to the Internet through a network (ISDN and DSL),
    select Connect using my local area network (LAN).
   If you use a modem to dial in, select Connect using my phone line and
   in the Use the following Dial-Up Networking Connection field
   select your connection for Infinity AccessNET.
    Usually named Infinity or may be named something else.

7. Click Finish. (view)  

8. Select (view)  the account that you just created and click Properties.

9. If you have a business name (view) , enter it in the Organization field.
   This is a generic text field and can be upper and lower case.

10. If you wish a copy of email to be left on the server, select the Advanced tab,
    and click (view) on the box in front of Leave a copy of messages on server.
    Click on the box Remove from server after 5 days.
    You can change this number if you wish.

11. Click Ok then Close (view) .

12. Click the Send/Receive button (view) to test the setup and check for email or
    send email that is in your Outbox.

TIPS:

  • You can import old mail and address books from most programs.
      To do this select File and then Import.
  • If you are on a network connection, select Tools then Options. Click the Send tab. Check the box Send messages immediately.
